Team Management

Mark Bone
I got interested in football through my close relationship with my Grandfather, George, who used to take me as a very small child in a buggy to watch my local team Chesham United, play. Growing up I loved to play for school teams and follow Arsenal. After school my friends and I at 16 formed our own team in the Buckinghamshire League called the 'Chesham Accidentals'. We lost our first two games 21-0 and 16-0 but soon started to improve and I think we even managed to win a few. Mostly I played right-back or sometimes in midfield. I continued to play for Saturday teams through my University days at Bristol, and then for local sides in Brighton, winning the coveted 'Most Improved Player Award' aged 30! I still play regularly with my boys and organise Friday Night Football for the other Hassocks Juniors coaches. I have two boys playing for the club, one at Under 12's and One in my own Under 9's team. I have the FA Level 1 Award in Coaching Football taken in 2015, and have been coaching for Hassocks Juniors since 2014 when I got involved with the team when my youngest son started playing for the Under 7's. Since then I have helped to run the age group up until present day at under 9's where we have split into three teams due to the fantastic numbers of children wanting to play football. I also undertake the role of Mini Soccer & New Manager Development Officer for HJFC helping to support new managers of the younger age groups as they begin their coaching with the club.

About The Team

I have managed my own team the ‘Hawks’ at under 8’s and now under 9’s. Last season at under 8’s the Hawks scored over 300 goals in one season.

We believe strongly in passing, attacking team football and play the game how we love to see it being played. The talent and passion of these children at such a young age makes the role of being their coach the most rewarding hobby. Whilst playing for the Hawks several now also play for a professional club. The way they play, their ability and their vision makes them a great credit to me, to their parents and to Hassocks Junior Football Club.
