The squad for our U8 boys age group currently numbers c30 players, and we divide this into two matchday squads, a first team (the Hawks) and a second team (the Falcons), who both play in different divisions of the
Horsham League.
Home matches are usually played at 9.30am on Saturday mornings at
Adastra Park, Hassocks. We also train outdoors at 6pm for an hour every
Tuesday evening, either at Adastra or on the 3G pitch at Downlands
Community School, Hassocks.
Our training sessions focus on fun and enjoyment, but include coaching
drills to improve individual players’ ability and technical skills, and we
generally finish each session with a 10/15 minute game.
Towards the end of each season, both squads will enter local tournaments
competing against other clubs. We also provide opportunities for the
players to play at the senior team stadium at the Beacon, Hassocks, during
our annual end-of-season award club tournament, and to be mascots for the senior first team, who last season played in the Isthmian League.
Our culture is based on 5 values:-
- Work Hard
- Positive Attitude
- Listen to Coaches
- Be Kind to Others
- Smiley Face
Our players attend a wide range of different local schools, but we
emphasise a team ethic and there is a strong team spirit across the entire
squad. Players’ individual abilities vary, but league results over recent seasons have confirmed our first team squad to be one of the stronger in ability in the Mid/East Sussex area.
We currently have 6 coaches for the group. All are parents of players in
the squad, but Hassocks FC is an FA charter standard club and therefore
coaches adhere to FA standards of coaching with DBS checks, first aid
training, skills training etc.
